TPLF still torn by strife

Ethiopian news and information update Divisions are widening within the Tigray People’s liberation Front (TPLF, hard core of the ruling EPRDF). Two of the main rival forces within the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) known as the Addis Gang, led by deputy
prime minister Debretsion Gebremichael, and the Tigray Group, headed by the president of the Tigray Regional State and the TPLF, Abay Woldu, are locked in a no-holds-barred struggle. The conflict has deepened in Tigray itself where their supporters even came to blows at a meeting in Mekelle. For his part, Woldu is trying to expel people whom he suspects of backing his rivals from local government in Tigray Regional State. For instance, he has tried to kick out Beyene Mekeru from the trade and industry department and Kiros Bitew, head of the agricultural department. In vain, so far. Nonetheless he has suddenly appointed one of his supporters, Alem Gebre Wahid, as chief of the regional Enterprise Board, a post that Bitew previously held. Source: ION, No. 1364
